Covered in afghans, stretched panties and blue plastic tarp, No Name (moving blanket head) seems to mimic the role of contemporary artists trying to stand with authority in the midst of post-industrial flotsam and jetsam. Elements of radical subversiveness lie underneath the posture of the No Names sculptures but do not subsume them. In fact, O'Conner taught at UC Davis, where Robert Arneson and Roy DeForest helped create the funk art movement of the 1960s. O'Connor seems to float in between categories and even mock their existence.
